Thames Water ‘sorry’ for burst pipe on Rowan Avenue in High Wycombe

A water company apologized for a burst pipe on a street in High Wycombe that created a “20-foot geyser” that one resident claimed “vibrated” homes.

Thames Water said it was “sorry” after a damaged section of pipe at the intersection of Rowan Avenue and Totteridge Road broke, causing a “well” of water to shoot meters high in the air.

The fire department was called to the scene on Monday evening, with the High Wycombe fire department erecting a cordon.

According to one.network, the Bucks Council is also doing work on Rowan Avenue from July 12-23.

Thames Water promised to “fix and clean” the street after there was a drain on Totteridge Road.

“It’s good to see that the road renewal is going well,” said a local resident at the time. “Not only did the houses vibrate, but the water pipe was also broken.

“It’s getting worse by the hour. The clogged drains mean it can travel over half a mile.

[The fountain is] now reaches roof height. ”

Cllr Julia Wassell said: “The fountain was certainly spectacular. I had several messages that drew my attention to a 20 foot geyser on Rowan Avenue.

“I look forward to all of the work being completed to the satisfaction of the residents.”

A spokesman for Thames Water said: “We are sorry to everyone who was hit by a burst pipe … on Totteridge Road, which ran water down the hill.

“Our engineers were on site quickly to stop the burst and repair the damaged pipe section. We will now work on site to repair and clean the street. ”
