TikTok Hilariously Shows Man Discovering ‘Buried Treasure’ is Septic Tank

A man’s funny video went viral after leading people to believe he found buried treasure – in reality, it was just his septic tank.

Canadian TikToker Tony Huisman uploaded the video on Monday with the vague caption “Found a secret box in the ground”. The video was recorded over relaxing music and shows him digging up a mysterious concrete box.

“I was gardening in my garden today and discovered some kind of crazy secret concrete box in the ground,” he explains in a voice-over. “I found one handle after digging for a while and after digging a bit more I exposed the second handle.”

Then he started pulling, but had to bring in “the big guns” and use a lever bar to raise the top. But the contents of the box were far from glamorous.

“You will never believe what I found,” he concludes. “It was my septic tank.” The video ends with Huisman choking and running away from the terrible find.

The video quickly gained over 5 million views and has an audience in stitches. “Um, I guess it wasn’t sweetheart,” one joked. Another, who quickly realized it was a septic tank, wrote: “I observe this: ‘Don’t open that. Don’t open that. No, no, don’t open that …'”

In a follow-up video, Huisman stated that he knew it was a septic tank, but didn’t do it before calling the plumber. “So yesterday everything in the house suddenly stopped draining completely,” he explained. “Everything got blocked completely and I rushed the hell out of my toilet, shower, sink … So we called a plumber and he looked around here and asked us, ‘When was the last time you pumped your septic tank? ‘

“What! We didn’t know we were in a sewage treatment plant!” he said.

Huisman, who has lived in the house for six years, claims his landlord never informed him, and previous tenants even planted a garden over where the tank was buried.

“I knew there was a septic tank and I dug it up on purpose,” he explained. “The stupid part is, neither of us knew we were in a septic tank.”

One viewer even joked, “I can’t explain this. Maybe it’s morbid curiosity … but I want to see the inside of it.” Huisman replied and called the content “angry af”.

“”[TikTok] probably would have removed the video. Imagine brown jelly, but with similar animal fat, “he said.

Septic tanks have proven to be far more dangerous in the past. Two years ago, an Oregon woman fell into a septic tank and was trapped for three days.
