BP-Tech Group specializes in trenchless pipe repairs, including liners, resins and specialty equipment
Trelleborg, Sweden – The Trelleborg Group is expanding its pipe repair capabilities with the planned acquisition of BP-Tech Group, based in Rajamaki, Finland.
The takeover will take place via the Trelleborg Industrial Solutions (TIS) division and includes BP-Tech brands such as Boldan and Spraypoxy coating systems, the Swedish group announced on April 16.
The company to be acquired is “an innovation leader” for trenchless pipe repairs including liners, resins and specialty equipment.
The Finnish group reported sales of just over SEK 220 million (EUR 19 million) in 24 countries in 2023.
According to Trelleborg, the company has “a strong portfolio, including a proprietary spray-in-place solution, and offers industry-leading training for contractors.”
The purchase strengthens Trelleborg’s position in “a fast-growing industry,” said TIS President Jean-Paul Mindermann.
According to the TIS director, between 25 and 50 percent of tap water is lost through leaks every year in Europe and North America due to aging infrastructure.
This leads to “significant costs and environmental consequences,” Mindermann continued.
“Trenchless technology is a sustainable and cost-effective solution that enables rapid repair of critical infrastructure and with minimal disruption to property owners,” he added.
Trelleborg expects the pipe repair market to grow strongly in the coming years as utilities and local authorities address critical infrastructure.
Trelleborg has made a number of investments recently, including the acquisition of German Innovative Sewer Technologies in late 2022. (ERJ report).
This latest transaction, details of which were not disclosed, is expected to close in the second quarter of the year.
