Webb City is carrying out a state mandate to ask households if they have lead pipes

Jackie Clark has been a firefighter for 41 years

Fire Chief Andrew Roughton honored Battalion Chief Jackie Clark for his upcoming retirement after 41 years with the Webb City Fire Department.

Clark joined the department in 1983 and, Roughton noted, was its first paramedic. He also obtained the department's first extraction tools.

Clark is particularly known in the community for promoting city staff's Badges & Burgers fundraiser for United Way and Webb City CARES.

“We hope he comes back for this,” Roughton said.

“There has never been a better city to work in,” Clark said.

He said he felt he “made a difference in people’s lives and their property.”

“I'll miss it. I really hate going there.”

And then he had to go – back to fighting a bushfire.

Six weeks of peach sales are expected

Received the Webb City Farmers Market Annual Financial and Progress Report, presented by Board Chair Stefanie Thomasma and Market Coordinator Roen Procter.

Thomasma thanked the city for its cooperation in paving the parking lot south of the pavilion and purchasing new vinyl siding to keep the market open during the winter.

She noted that in 2023, the market offered 3,000 free meals to children in addition to the SNAP Double-Up Food Bucks, Women's Infants and Children and Lions Cub programs.

Due to a freeze, peaches were canceled in 2023, but Thomasma predicted a six-week peach sale this year.

In other measures, the Council:
