One of the items I’m most picky about in my home is my kitchen towels. As a result, it takes me ages to buy new ones and I end up using paper towels more than I would like. Not all kitchen towels are the same. Some look good but aren’t very absorbent. Others are absorbent but purely functional rather than fashionable. It’s hard to find a towel that does everything you want, even if some come very close. I was already a fan of Weezie for their bathmats, hair towels and bathrobes so I was excited to see them launching a range of kitchen towels. Their bath towels are already favorites of the editors, who had pretty high expectations for the kitchen towels. How would they hold up in comparison? I tested the Weezie kitchen towels in my small kitchen and trust me they don’t disappoint.

As soon as I opened my pair of Weezie kitchen towels, I felt like I was going to be delighted. I don’t normally associate softness with kitchen towels, but Weezie made me stop to appreciate the feel before I started using them. At 19″ x 30″ they are also larger than I expected, which was another plus I think. The towels are double-sided: the top is smooth, patterned, flat-weave cotton and the bottom is terrycloth. The combination fabric, a first for the brand, made the towel an instant game changer for my kitchen. I chose the Red Windowpane towels and the scalloped edges give their country style a modern twist that looks really good in my kitchen. They also come in French Blue Windowpane and Green Stripe, both of which are just as stylish. I let my towels drape over my oven handle, but they have built in loops so you can hang them on a hook for quick drying too.

Speaking of drying wet towels, the real test of Weezie’s kitchen towels would be their absorbency. My biggest struggle with kitchen towels in the past has been that they don’t absorb liquid. I understand the appeal of waterproof towels in that the liquid pebbles sink onto the fabric rather than into it. This makes it easy to clean baby and pet blankets, which is an extremely useful feature in the event of an accidental spill. However, I want my kitchen towels to absorb water and not just move it around the counter. Not to mention that these towels also feel uncomfortable after use and don’t dry quickly at all. I have a couple of these kitchen towels and they stay in a drawer. Aside from that, Weezie’s kitchen towels knocked the absorbency test out of the park. Not only do they soak up water, but they don’t get that gross, damp feeling afterwards that prevents you from using them again right away.

As I said, I’m picky about my kitchen towels and I don’t particularly like buying them, but I would get another set of Weezie’s Five Star kitchen towels in a heartbeat. They’re big, absorbent, soft and stylish. They are even beautiful enough to be used as bathroom towels. Plus, like Weezie’s other products, you can have them monogrammed for a small additional charge. I’ve never been a big fan of kitchen towels, but Weezie’s are definitely worth celebrating!
