WGI, Inc. Acquires Anston-Greenlees, Inc., Adding Depth and New Clients in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Engineering Service Line

The addition of a Tampa-based company brings WGI’s total number of strategic acquisitions to four in the past year

WEST PALM BEACH, FL / ACCESSWIRE / January 4, 2023 / The national planning and engineering firm, WGI, Inc. (WGI), is pleased to announce the acquisition of Tampa, Florida-based Anston-Greenlees, Inc. (AGI), a mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection consulting firm (MEP ) design services for the government, Educational, healthcare, private and institutional customers throughout Florida.

The acquisition continues WGI’s ongoing commitment to sustained strategic growth as AGI adds additional MEP capacity in Florida and brings with it an impressive customer list including many state and local government agencies. The addition of AGI enables WGI to offer energy efficient and sustainable engineering designs to a broader range of customers and stakeholders.

AGI was founded in 1991 and is led by Robert C. Anston, PE. The company offers MEP services with a particular focus on public sector clients. AGI’s existing customers will continue to work with the same professionals who have provided them with exceptional service for decades. Robert Anston will continue to oversee Florida MEP operations as WGI Florida’s MEP leader.

“I am delighted that Robert Anston and his amazing team in Tampa have joined our WGI team,” said WGI’s MEP Director Marc Remmert. “This acquisition allows us to achieve a key goal, which is to expand our MEP footprint in Florida and expand and strengthen our national consulting practice. Given the strength of Florida’s economy and an unprecedented investment in public infrastructure, it could not have come at a better time.”

For Anston, the fit appears to be tailor-made. “I’ve built our company over the past thirty-one years and it’s been an incredible journey,” he says. “Over the past year, while AGI has worked with WGI on numerous projects, I have come to know David Wantman, Marc Remmert and WGI’s broader leadership team better. I am confident that our employees and customers will be in the best of hands. I look forward to taking the next step in our growth and making a meaningful contribution to the continued success of WGI’s MEP engineering team.”

“The addition of AGI is part of our strategic plan and diversifies an already successful MEP division. AGI brings additional strength to the public MEP market and balances the department’s overall portfolio. We welcome Rob and his entire team to the WGI family,” said WGI CEO David Wantman.

The acquisition of AGI is WGI’s fourth in the past 12 months. In January 2022, WGI joined transportation specialists Simpson Engineers and Associates of Raleigh, North Carolina. In the same month, Orlando, Florida-based Streamline Technologies, Inc., a water resource modeling software company, became a wholly owned subsidiary of WGI Ventures, WGI’s technology investment arm. In July 2022, Huntsville, Alabama-based geospatial company The Atlantic Group became a wholly owned subsidiary of WGI and now operates as WGI Geospatial.
